Focus on Sustainability in the Stone Industry

Sustainability was a major theme at Marmomac 2026, featuring an international Award for Best Sustainability. This award evaluated solutions capable of simultaneously reducing environmental impact, increasing production efficiency, and promoting more responsible resource utilization.

  • Reduction of stone waste and byproducts
  • Reuse of byproducts and processing waste
  • Reduction of energy and resource consumption
  • Increased production process efficiency
  • Utilization of lower-impact, sustainable technologies
  • Development of circular economy solutions

The Bedrock: A Look into the Future of Natural Stone

The Bedrock: Pioneering the Future of Natural Stone was one of the most prominent new sections of Marmomac 2026, established in Hall 10. This section aimed to explore the role of natural stone beyond its traditional application in construction, highlighting its connection with architecture, design, research, and technology.

In The Bedrock, projects and exhibitions focused on interior design, stone architecture, new technologies, the reuse of stone and its byproducts, and innovative methods of utilizing this material were presented. The primary objective was to demonstrate that natural stone can play a broader role in the future as a material for design, innovation, and contemporary architecture.

Marmomac 2026 Awards

At Marmomac 2026, various awards were presented with a focus on innovation, sustainability, technology, and the presentation of natural stone. The most prominent was the International Award for Sustainable Excellence, held for the first time in collaboration with the University of Verona, which recognized innovative and sustainable solutions across the stone industry supply chain. Alongside this, the Best Exhibitor Award was presented to companies that successfully showcased natural stone through creative approaches in design, technology, and exhibition presentation.

Machinery & Equipment Award: Dereli Marmo with Marble-SAND

This section was dedicated to next-generation technologies and equipment developed to increase efficiency, reduce energy and resource consumption, enhance safety, and lower environmental impacts.
The winner in this category was Dereli Marmo with the Marble-SAND system—a solution that transforms stone extraction waste into a certified material for use in the construction industry within a closed-loop cycle. Instead of discarding a portion of the extracted materials, this technology reintroduces them into the production cycle.

Tools Award

This award was presented to innovative tools and equipment that improve the performance, efficiency, safety, and environmental impact of the stone processing workflow.
Luppato Meccanica won this category with the Nuova Hammer 12/30 tool—a product developed for the precise processing of hard stone materials, designed to enhance accuracy and operational efficiency in stone processing.

Software Award

This section was dedicated to software and digital solutions capable of optimizing stone industry processes, increasing operational efficiency, and better managing information across the production and supply chain.
Rico Technologies won with Lazorex Studio—a platform that enables the digitization of stone slabs and the management and sharing of their related information throughout the stone industry supply chain.

Chemicals Award

This award was designated for new chemical products and solutions that maintain performance in stone processing while offering greater safety and sustainability, thereby reducing the environmental impact of the production process.
